Artfire vs Etsy vs Bonanzle?

They are all great sites. Which one gives you the most bang for your buck though? If you don’t have handmade items (they seem to allow vintage items and art & craft supplies as well on Artfire and Etsy, check their fine print) then Bonanzle would be the obvious choice. If you have handmade items though, which one should you pick? A lot of the people interested in handmade and handpainted items go to the craft related sites. Looking at it that way, I prefer Artfire.
Etsy is big site though and popular, so I still list items there. I’ve heard that relisting or renewing items often is good to do on Etsy because it puts you on top of the search (so it does on Artfire too I’m guessing). However, those 20 cents add up if you don’t sell anything and the final value fee adds up too when you do sell stuff (3.5%).
What about Artfire then? It is free to list (for free version there is a 2 month limit or something that item stays up for sale before you have to relist it) and no final value fee. They have “free” stores but you have tons of ads (ok maybe not that many ads, but it seems to be quite a few), and there are many options you can’t even use until you have their “pro” version which is 16 bucks a month last I checked. With that though you still don’t pay to list, and there is no final value fee. However, I once tried to buy an ad to help my free store maybe let me be able to invest in signing up for pro version. It kept telling me I had to log in to upgrade my account (?). So, I didn’t upgrade because I should be able to buy an ad to help me promote my store and not have to upgrade just because of that.
So, in summary, for me, I would say that Artfire is my choice over Etsy. Don’t forget to list stuff on Etsy if you can. They have been doing upgrades to their site (including being able to set sales tax for certain states) and they really are a big site. Some people hasn’t heard of it still though. They will tell me e-t-s-y not etsy. Has Artfire set sales tax? I don’t think so. You have to figure the sales tax out yourself for them I guess. Does it come with pro version? That I don’t know. I do know that choosing between Etsy and Artfire, I would choose Artfire if I had to pick one.
