Artfire vs Etsy vs Bonanzle?

They are all great sites. Which one gives you the most bang for your buck though? If you don’t have handmade items (they seem to allow vintage items and art & craft supplies as well on Artfire and Etsy, check their fine print) then Bonanzle would be the obvious choice. If you have handmade items though, which one should you pick? A lot of the people interested in handmade and handpainted items go to the craft related sites. Looking at it that way, I prefer Artfire.

Etsy is big site though and popular, so I still list items there. I’ve heard that relisting or renewing items often is good to do on Etsy because it puts you on top of the search (so it does on Artfire too I’m guessing). However, those 20 cents add up if you don’t sell anything and the final value fee adds up too when you do sell stuff (3.5%).

What about Artfire then? It is free to list (for free version there is a 2 month limit or something that item stays up for sale before you have to relist it) and no final value fee. They have “free” stores but you have tons of ads (ok maybe not that many ads, but it seems to be quite a few), and there are many options you can’t even use until you have their “pro” version which is 16 bucks a month last I checked. With that though you still don’t pay to list, and there is no final value fee. However, I once tried to buy an ad to help my free store maybe let me be able to invest in signing up for pro version. It kept telling me I had to log in to upgrade my account (?). So, I didn’t upgrade because I should be able to buy an ad to help me promote my store and not have to upgrade just because of that.

So, in summary, for me, I would say that Artfire is my choice over Etsy. Don’t forget to list stuff on Etsy if you can. They have been doing upgrades to their site (including being able to set sales tax for certain states) and they really are a big site. Some people hasn’t heard of it still though. They will tell me e-t-s-y not etsy. Has Artfire set sales tax? I don’t think so. You have to figure the sales tax out yourself for them I guess. Does it come with pro version? That I don’t know. I do know that choosing between Etsy and Artfire, I would choose Artfire if I had to pick one.

The Newf Reviews – Softbite Flexible Disc

It is the newfie’s Youtube debut. Check it out!

Softbite Flexible disc is a soft frisbee that has very durable fabric. Our newfie loves to play tug (as you can see in the video), and the disc holds up very well. You can find it at Petsmart Softbite flexible disc. Great stuff!

Hot, sunny day

It is a hot sunny day and glad that a/c is working good. Not so glad however, the electric bills that apparently come along with having full house a/c. Well, I guess that is just how it is, and newf and us are still glad we have the airconditioning. It is about 90F out and very sunny, so the newfie girl prefers to just hang out inside today. We were out to play earlier when it wasn’t as hot out. I got some painting done, garage wasn’t too bad for heat, just handpainted jeans today. It is something I can do while the kids watch me work. If you want to see some of the jeans and how they look, check out either the Artfire, Etsy or Bonanzle page. Thank you!

The fence is…. up!

Look no leash! Newfie girl loves the fenced in backyard.

fencing

fencing pretty much complete

Yep, yesteday we put up about 200 foot worth of fence. We still need to add some more tie wires, some tension wires and do some landscaping. Our backyard is mostly flat, but there are areas that were not as flat as they seemed and some we had to actually landscape just to get the fence up.

Fencing project, finally getting somewhere!

Fencing update August 15

Another update, finally!!

Yep, it cost us over a grand to get the remaining (we hope that is all we need, might need a little bit more) parts. Today we rented a Home Depot truck and brought home 6 rolls of 6 ft chainlink fabric, 30 something top rails, several corner post kits, line kits and some end post kits and some tension bars. Total length of fence, about 400 ft, we still had 3/4 just about to go. We have started to put up some of the top rails as you can see in the picture and you can see some of the fabric rolls and other stuff. Some of the fence costs have been covered by sales, so we are very thankful to our awesome customers!!! Thank you!!! Newfie will be so happy to have a fenced backyard to run around in. It will take some time to put all of it up. We are three people working on it basically, me, dear hubby, and dad-in-law. Now we have all or at least most if not all, the materials. Yay!!
